Harold's Clean Sweep

We all love shopping! But let's face it, it's a very expensive habbit these days. What's a lady (excuse me, or a gentleman) to do?? :) Sales, friends, sales. That's what this humble (and hopefully helpful) blog will be devoted to. My vision? An open forum where we can help eachother get some of our favorite things- for cheap (or even free, you never know!!).

Luckily there are still a TON of great post-Christmas sales. I've been hitting up some of the classics, like Victoria's Secret and stocking up on lotions, sprays, candles (and yes, some sexy things for my upcoming wedding in August! But I digress...), lip glosses, make up, ect and storing them in my apartment for gifts for upcoming occasions- showers, birthdays, anniversaries and hey- maybe even NEXT Christmas!! The trick is to find items that are classics (or really cool)- not Christmas themed things...that wouldn't be helpful for your friend's birthday in June! This way I already have a great chunk of gift shopping done...not even mid January. Done and Done!

In other news....great sales of the day takes us to...

Harold's Clean Sweep! As many of our North Dallas-ites know, the popular Harold's clerance center (along with all other stores with the popular Dallas-based Harold's label)is closing down. This is sad news. :( BUT the happy news is 80-90% off origional price sale. Going on right now. Yes...now!!

I've been to the particular sale twice in the last three days. Can not get enough! While I definitly had to sift through the massive racks of clothes (some of the items are a bit, err...matronly for my twenty-something taste!), I walked away with a combined total of $2600 of clothing...for $172. 85. The trick is the magic number 8. Buy 8 adorable, already super discounted items, get an ADDITIONAL 40% off your total! I'm no math genius (unlike my fabulous fiance!)- but that is a GREAT deal.

What to expect there: an overwhelming amount of clothing. Tops, jackets, pants, skirts, dresses, shoes, belts. Glory! Bins of clothing in various sizes. Tables of shoes. Racks and racks of skirts- what the majority of my purchases were! Dress selection has been depleated for the most part...but there are some hidden gems (example- the bright yellow eyelit lace sun dress I scored- origional price $188, my price? $15.04. Plus tax.) I picked up 4 jackets- khaki, jean, a black dressy jacket and a white 100% linen wrap around jacket. I also snagged an ADORABLE navy and white polka-dotted dress, 2 tied wrap around skirts, 2 button downs (although I am not the biggest button down fan, these were too adorable to pass up.), and 7 skirts. Amazing.

Be prepared for: HEAT. That store is HOT. I dont' know whether it was the people crammed in there or the store attempting to save a few dollars or my excitment over the prices (or all three!) but it was umbearably hot at times. Odd sizing- most tops were an extra small, so another bonus for all you skinny minis!! Also, the dressing rooms are plain scary. Curtains. No stable wall. Yikes! Also, you can buy furniture if you are looking for a massive shoe wall, belt or clothing rack. A lot of the fixtures have been sold, but all must go!
